Is Olive Oil Really Liquid Gold for Health?
Olive oil, popularly called liquid gold, is known for religious and cultural practices as well as ability to elevate the culinary experience. However, the usefulness of olive oil extends beyond cooking and religion; it has attributes that make it an important anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help to protect against some chronic diseases.
It is said that olive oil can detoxify the body, soothe the stomach and aid weight loss and some people believe that drinking olive oil provides even more benefits than using it in a meal, though there is no research to support this claim. However, it has been established that olive oil has many ingredients that make it important for healthy living and prevention of some health conditions. Some benefits of olive oil that make it important to health and gave it the appellation of liquid gold include:
Healthy elixir for health: Olive oil contains high levels of monounsaturated fats known as ‘good’ fats that have a beneficial effect on cholesterol levels by lowering levels of bad cholesterol and maintaining levels of good cholesterol, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease and promotes overall cardiovascular well-being.
