Are Americans Missing Fiber in Their Diets?
The value of a nutrient-dense diet full of whole foods remains pretty stable, but influences from different wellness trends, social media and affordability can make our diet patterns take different shapes.
To better understand what people are looking for when it comes to their nutrition—and where they’re getting their information—Pollock Communications and Today’s Dietitian surveyed more than 800 registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) to find the most common concerns people have about their diet, and the top expert-recommended tips on finding nutritious food.
When it comes to how often they talk with clients about a specific food or trend, RDNs reported that protein intake is a top issue—and that many people have misconceptions about it or overestimate how much they need to eat. Protein content is also the top “attribute” RDNs say consumers look for when buying a food, above cultural preference, flavor variety and others.
